Thank you very much. This will be handy to know if I ever have the need for Office 2008 on SL without Rosetta.

You don't even need Pacifist. Right click on the installer and choose "Show Package Contents" and navigate to Contents/Packages. The install is just a meta-package (.mpkg) which is a collection of standard (.pkg) installers.

The discussions at apple are down... hmm... Is there a Snow Leopard forum going up? I haven't been able to get on the discussions for the last 5 minutes.

The US Apple Store isn't even offering the SL Upgrade or the Box Set for pre-order (that I can find), so I am very skeptical Apple is actually releasing it tomorrow unless Apple doesn't want pre-orders and will just release it on a first-come (ordered) first-served (fulfilled) basis without any advanced notice - which I am also skeptical would happen.

I doubt it, but he says it like it's no big deal, and then mentions they won't be getting the new server because of it for about a week. I think he might be confused, but I won't say 0% chance. Yet.

Surprised that thread isn't 8 brazillion posts long yet.

he says it like it's no big deal, because that isn't a mac.apple related site. Not many people care there.

About time for some more rumors...I know that Apple Retail had a company wide meeting tonight. That usually fuels sites like this for a day or two afterwards.

I get what you are saying. It's just different to hear someone pass along this kind of info and not be like "ZOMG!11! I KNOWS WHAT THE BUILD OF THE GM WILL BE!!1!".

I guess I should have said, to agree with your point, that the surprising thing is that that forum isn't a place where you would hear something like that, just to get a rise out of people. That's what, to me, lends it a bit more credence.

They're loading fine now.

It might be nothing, but this is all I'm getting.

After having "procured," installed and used a copy of SL 10A432 for a week or so, I must say that I don't expect this to be the final GM build. There are a few little bugs that I don't think would be included in a final, shipping copy.

Nothing major, just enough to justify a small incased in build number.

I could foresee a 10.6.1 shortly after release. The dvd install is not really a big deal to people any more. We're so used to incremental releases that I could foresee someone saying, "Look, let's get the media out there and put 10.6.1 up within a week or two of the release because there's always going to be SoMETHING once we get it out in the wild."

Who knows.. I'd like to believe that Apple isn't M$, but the larger Apple gets, it seems impossible to avoid missing mistakes or having things get looked over. The main difference to me of Apple over Microsoft is that at least Apple's stuff works or doesn't work as expected. Living off the microsoft constant hype and idea that "the next release will fix everything" grew extremely tiresome and incredible disappointment. The interesting thing is, when I was a "microsoft fan boy", you could ride the hype for months when receiving new product or releases, LONG ENOUGH to just about take you to the next product cycle hype ramp-up. So once disappointment was settling in, they began the hype of the future... With apple, it's pretty much hype based on lack of hype. Apple shows what they're doing "NOW", and show what they're releasing in the extremely near future, end of story.

Apple could win over a lot more "microsoft fan boys" talking more and doing less, but I actually prefer apple with delivering then talking vs talking and not delivering.

That's a lot easier, thanks.

Safari 4.0.3 on a new MacBook Pro. And I just checked it again and I'm still getting the "We'll be back soon" message. I'm waiting for the Apple Store and the Mac page to go down too. But I might be a little overoptimistic :)

very odd. its still working for me. try resetting cache, cookies, or anything you can think of. ill let you know if it stops working for me

All I know is that Apple really needs to update the footer on the discussions site to 2009 :p

Thanks

I don't really care (right now) if its working or not, and I'm just going to assume its a normal outage. But if it has a much wider outage, then I think its worth noting. But I would be interested to know if anybody else is having trouble accessing the Discussions

LOL Mine is showing 2007. It's weird I can't get into discussions on Firefox, but they are showing up in the latest Safari. I've cleared cache and everything in Firefox.
