I purchased a Mac Mini earlier today to complement the IMac that I already own but have had a heck of a time trying to get it to display properly on any display that I own. I'm looking to return it tomorrow, have checked the return details and don't anticipate a problem but wanted to check with y'all on here first. Will I have any issues returning it ? Nothing was installed, downloaded, etc...

You have 14 days to return it, no questions asked. That is Apple's policy but some resellers might have different policy but if you bought it from Apple, you shouldn't have issues returning it. However, you may be charged with restocking fee

I'm curious, could you tell us what the problem you're having is?

It wouldn't be that you don't have "Mirror Display" checked in System preferences, would it?

I was intending to hook it up to my Samsung 40inch LCD. What I was dreaming would be a gorgeous HD display ended up being a nightmare. First off, I used the HDMI cable but at 1080i it had thick black borders left and right, and at 720 even thicker black borders. I remember mirror display being checked because I then hooked up the MiniDVI-VGA cable and while that was better in that it filled the entire screen, my resolution wouldn't go past 1024x768 (and I'm used to the 1920x1200 on my IMac display) and in both cases the color was just a bit dull as well. Nothing against the Mac Mini in any way, I just think my expectations were a bit too high and I didn't anticipate having to mess with the display...

Apparently my Samsung LE40 has a 1366 x 768 resolution so in any case, it was never going to look as good as my IMac display. I guess I've been spoilt...

I had similar problems when I connected my Mini to my new TV. Go into System Preferences>Displays and calibrate for your TV. It solved the problem for me.
