Hi,

I plan to buy a Mac Mini 2018/20 to develop iOS and Android mobile apps. I generally work with cross platform solutions based on JS or with Flutter, and rarely in native languages.

I realize basic mobile applications (no 3D, animation, games ...) : connection to web APIs, classic UIs, harware native APIs (geolocation, camera...).

I would like advice on the most suitable and economical Mac Mini (2018) configuration.

Since Mac Mini cannot be easily upgraded after purchase (except RAM), I need to know if I should prioritize:
  • the number of cores,
  • the processor (i3 vs i5 vs i7),
  • or the ram,
for storage, I can limit myself to 256GB.

Thank you in advance !

ps: I exclude the other models of Mac because too expensive and I do not want an old model in order to have Mac OS updates as long as possible

If you want to scrimp on storage and RAM, then the base model with the i7 6 core upgrade is the best value. Same cost as the i5 with double the storage. 6 core i7 should really extend the usable life...assuming you upgrade RAM yourself.
