really, they shud make a 15 inch iMac designed exactly like the imac, in assorted colors
Edit: I get what you mean now
i mean a mini imac, 15 unch screen, in assorted colors, they get rid of that [stupid] cube
oh, okay, so what do u think of that idea?
I like the Mini. It's a cute little bugger. Plus burglars don't know what they are, as proven when my parents got burgled.
well thats a rare case
The idea of a iMac mini would be pretty awesome. However, I think most people would want a bigger screen than 15". The norm now is 17" and for a couple of dollars more you can upgrade to a 19". So if Apple made a 17" iMac (like they just got rid of) and sold it for like $799 they would have a winner on there hands. However, I like the fact that I can use any monitor I want with my mini, and that is the main reason I purchased it over a similar iMac. So if they built something the size of the original Cube and put in there an upgradeable graphics card and a larger 3.5" SATA HD and sold it for $499 that would be an amazing computer. However, I love my mini the way it is!
There is a reason they dropped the 17" iMac. ...And it wasn't because they couldn't keep up with the orders.
Plus the people who want the mac mini are usually not the same people that want the iMac.
This thread is stupid
People buy mac mini because apple hardware sux
Mac-mini is owesome gem
Mac-mini was my first mac. I like this little bugger. It fits nicely into family room and when hooked up to big screen HDTV via DVI and receiver via optical cable and fitted with wireless kb and mise - it is invaluable tool to collaborate with entire family and/or friends on home video or music composition. iMac simply would not do.
It is funny I used the same word "bugger" as another fellow. Mac-mini rules and is plenty for photo, HD video, music, Youtube, internet surfing and any creative stuff. No need for dedicated GPU, integrated video works just fine.
Hey, look iPod nano plays video nicely without any ATI, NVidia help. I glad Apple keeps it rolling.
BTW, Linus bought one out of curiosity to its size vs. performance. He likes it , but he still favors Power G5 CPU (he owns Mac Pro G5, but claims to run Linux on it - yeh right) over Intel which I would disagree. My opinion - G5 is great chip, but does not fit for multipurpose use. This type of CPU belongs to the server market, not for consumer. Exactly where Linux shines currently.
No, people buy the Mini because its cheap and they already have a monitor etc.
I guess that includes your computer?
Mac Mini's are awesome computers. With the size of them you can do all kinda of stuff with them. You just have to be realistic and not get one thinking your going to game with it. Im not sure about the Mini iMac thing, would rather see a Mac Mini with a graphics card, they can make that in different colors. lol
Isn't the Mac mini Apple hardware?? Wake up or write exactly what you mean.
Why not just get a MacBook?
Mac mini power with a smaller screen than the iMacs. On top of that, it can run off a battery.
I love my Core2 minis. One is running my media center, the other is running my music studio. Monitor? Who needs a monitor?
the mac mini is great the way it is now. If anything they should keep it more up to date. They'd sell more. I'd buy one. They are cool!
It would have been the ideal machine if they could just, somehow, have crammed in the X1600 from the old iMacs.
Hehe, A friend of my dad thought the mini was my dad's lunchbox
Anyway the Mini is great as it is, I only wish they would make a mini with the iMac specs.
15 inch screen is so 90's
WTF are you talking about/
Agreed, that's essentially what the MacBook is.
I'd have settled for the 7300 in the AppleTV!
Anyways, the whole point of the mini is that it's a headless entry level Mac. They made the computer you are describing - it was a 17" iMac CoreDuo 1.83ghz with a GMA950 and a ComboDrive. It was EDU only and they stopped making it because I'm guessing no one bought it. A 15" screen is pretty useless for a desktop these days, it only makes sense for a machine where portability matters - like a laptop.
The mini's video is better than the macbook. Same GMA950 MB is choked my .5v hence running at only 200mhz.
I guess I have a mac mini iMac -- I have the last 64mb vram 1.5ghz PPC G4 mini with a 23" Apple Cinema Display (aluminum). LOVE IT.
hence the word imac mini
I guess he thought your dad was on a diet because your couldn't fit much lunch into a mini.
..Which would be really stupid, no one actually wants a smaller iMac. They want an iMac without the screen built in.
