I tried searching but didnt find anyone with the same issue. My mac mini is hooked up to my tv and has static (or noise or whatever you call it) all throughout the screen, it's not the tv because I watch tv on it all the time and there is no static. Anyone know what's wrong?

    1) Replace the cable
    2) Set the 'sharpness' setting on the TV to the lowest possible
    3) Connect the Mini to a PC/DVI port on the TV that may default to the settings which are best suited for a computer being connected

Worth trying to see if it solves the static problem, but unfortunately most 1080p TVs do not make full use of their resolution using the PC ports, so may see some other issues.

Another thing is to turn off all the signal processing you can. These are mostly designed for moving images, not computer interfaces. Some manufacturers do not allow you to turn off everything that you need to.

What is your connection to the TV?

I use an mini-DVI to HDMI adapter. Sometimes if needs to be jiggled a little bit whn I get only noise. I may have to re-start the mini as well.
