#1 I've come across an interesting problem. I have a Mac Mini 1.83Ghz Core 2 Duo and I'm trying to connect it up to my Sony KDL-52XBR4 television to get 1080p. I purchased the Belkin DVI-to-HDMI cable from below:

The cable works OK and when I connect the Mac Mini either directly to an HDMI input on the TV, or through the HDMI input on my Denon AVR-3808i stereo, I get a picture. The problem is the picture is grainy and just not clear on the television.

When I turn around and connect the mini to my TV via a standard DVI-to-VGA cable on the PC port of the television, the picture is crystal clear.

I don't understand the differences and why the VGA is giving me such a better picture. It's annoying because I only have HDMI cables from the stereo to where the TV is mounted and I can't use the PC port because of that without leaving the Mini in an awkward locale. Both settings show up as 1920x1080 when I goto Display Preferences and both are at 60hz vertical frequency.

    Any ideas?

If you are getting a good picture out of the vga you should have no problem getting the dvi/hdmi to work. It sounds like your tv automatically adjusts the picture settings for the vga.

to get the hdmi to work you need to first figure out which(if any) hdmi input can handle a dvi to hdmi connection and then you may have to manually adjust your picture setting on the tv
