I have a desktop PC that is on its last legs (kind of has been since I got it but...anyway) As I have a decent monitor and keyboard and mouse I wanted to replace it with a mac mini (i only want it for netting the intersurf, ripping DVDs etc for ATV and using my eyetv on it so big HD is my most important feature but dont want it to be sloooooooow).

I'm not fussed about waiting until the new ones come out. I have purchased other apple products refurb and am happy to do this again.

anyone have any ideas what a 2GB Ram version mac mini might go for as a refurb in GBP?
I thought I once saw one with a large capacity HD 250GB on refurb ages ago but the standard models dont have this capacity?

I also noted on another thread saying that the prices on refurbs would come down even further after the update (although I guess they might be rarer). Anyone any ideas what sort of price the 2GB would be then (just a rough guesstimate would be appreciated)
also will a refurb come loaded with the latest OS and software?

    thanks in advance chaps

I just checked the US Apple Store and there are no refurb Mac mini's available.
When I did some in the past, I don't recall ever seeing one with a 250GB hard drive.

Edit: I just check the UK site, same thing.

As an avid refurb buyer I do regularly check the UK refurb pages, which is where I bough my Mini. Generally you only get standard fitments for Ram and HDD although the specs pages do say they may be better. If you get more it's a bonus.

Mini's do not come up in refurbs as often as other Macs and when they do they don't hang around. It's not unusual for people on Ebay UK to pay as much for a second hand Mini as a refurb one.

Generally speaking refurbs are current models or at least not more than a few months out of production so it is unlikely you will see a price drop in the store.

It is not likely to come with outdated software, if you check the specs of the refurb you want to buy it will give the minimum specs you will get. You are unlikely to see anything other than the latest software included.
