Mac Mini upgrade options

Morning all

OK so Ive decided to get rid of my 2011 MBA and replace it for a Mac Mini as I don't use the Air as a portable device and would like a bit of extra performance.

Ive bought (awaiting delivery) the 2.6 quad core i7 with the standard drive and memory as I am going to upgrade them myself.

Whats the best possible (2x8GB) memory I can get for it, and which 256GB SSD is rated as the most reliable/fastest?

I did think about getting OCZ Vertex 4 but there is supposed to be issues with the firmware when its over 50% full. I've narrowed it down to these 2, but I am also wondering if there are much better options I should be considering?

I'd put a Samsung 830 in. As for the RAM... Crucial seems to have a nice kit for around $70 I think.

samsung is good for ssd's.

Cool, thanks for that, hadn't considered the Samsung and its around the same price as the Crucial M4.

I've been running a Vertex 4 in my mid 2011 since last spring and plan to move it to a 2012 soon. You can now upgrade the OCZ firmware directly from the mini while booting off a CD or flash drive.

I would be happy with any 1600 RAM.

Even upgrading to the latest firmware, there is supposed to be issues with the OCZ drive dropping massively in performance when capacity is >50%.

Will see what the Samsung drive is like

Delivery bought forward to Friday for the new Mac Mini, had the memory today, should get the SSD over the next day or so, better sharpen the screwdrivers
