Mac Mini won't boot up

I have a recent model Mac Mini that is less than a year old, when trying to turn it on, it gets to the boot screen, the bar gets to around 40% full, and even that takes several minutes, and then it just shuts off. Any idea what could be happening? How do I even trouble shoot this if I can't access the OS?

Try starting in Safe mode.
If that does not work then startup in Recovery and use Disk Utility to run first aid on your internal drive.

Presuming you have a 2014 Mini, the first step would be to try to run the diagnostics. It does not load the OS.

You need to try booting from "an alternate source".

Another drive, USB flashdrive, recovery partition, etc.
