I was wondering if on th mac mini, i could plug it in to my ibook G4 to use the screen. I dont really want to spend a lot of money on a new screen, unless ebay.

Not really. Most notebook computers do not provide a means for you to use their screens as monitors for other machines (I say "most"; the reality is I've never seen this done).
