Recently my msn isn't allowing me to display my picture (msn 7). I get this error
    [IMG]
even though i'm using a standard jpg file. It won't let me use the stock msn pictures either. It displays the blue msn logo in my display picture. I have uninstalled (AppZapper) and reinstalled but still the same

Hey, I was having the same problem a while ago.

The problem is that somehow 7.0 forgot to install ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data folder, you can download and run 6.0.3 to fix that. Once you signed in with 6.0.3 your Microsoft User Data folder should be there, than you can trash it and run 7.0 with no problems.

    Launch Messenger, but don't sign-in
Choose the option to "Sign in with a different account . . ."
    Click Clear Account History . . .
    Click Clear History
Now click Sign-in and enter your credentials again

I was having the same issue. I didn't know what it could be, I never thought this would be an issue until I wanted to add a picture and I got the same error message.

Thanks to saxondale it now works!

    Thanks!!
    :)

I had this problem but I forget how I solved it. I think I went into the program contents and deleted some file, I think it was like previous something that MSN couldn't overwrite/read so it just gave up. But when it was deleted, that gave MSN the little push it needed.

Actually I think it is something in Microsoft User Data in Documents. Not sure which file but it's a head start.

    Problem with typing in messenger?...

Does anyone else have this problem or heard of this problem... When i send a message to someone on messenger i just press 'enter' and then the messeges sends but my cursor isn't in the typing box anymore and in order to type a new message i have to click in the typing box to write another message. It's so annoying and it just started doing this. i just can't keep typing like normal, i have to click in the typing box everytime. Any suggestions?? I deleted the program and redownloaded it and nothing changed.

    Help!

This was a problem that came about due to the Safari 4 beta. If you update to the final release of Safari 4, it's fixed.

    Regards,
    Nadyne.

That helped me as well. Working well now.
I was just wandering can you video chat with some one on the mac version of msn?
I cannot find the webcam icon/ option near my display photo and the person's I'm talking to.
They haven't thought about that did they ? Or is it just me being dumb.

    HI,

    I'm new to here.

I'm having the same problem. I can't change my display picture, I can't even pick the given msn ones. When I try to change, it lets me pick ok, then nothing happens.

I tried clearing the account history. It didn't work. I tried installing version 6.0, then 8.0, didn't work.

    Any other suggestions?

in USER/documents/microsoft user data/microsoft messenger history

delete all content, and problem solved.
i see that someone have problem like "unable to remove user from list or server" and pic, history chache etc... just delete all in this dir... then start msn again
