Mac Newb, connection to windows help

So this is my first mac and ive searched all over the forums and internet for the answer, to no avail. I can see my xp desktop fine on shared, i cant see the windows 7 however. If i do the apple+k to bring up connect to server I can enter the window 7 comps name, and connect, I can see the folders, but cannot see any files in the folders. My ultimate goal is just trying to get the macbook connected to the printer on my win 7 desktop, I can see the printer on the xp desktop fine, but need the one on the win 7 desktop.

Ok so after screwing around with things I got the printer and the mac seeing all the windows computers, but now my win 7 machine wont see my mac, ugh!
