For those critical of the OP, I think they need to applaud him for his recognition he has a problem. This is akin to an alcoholic throwing out all alcohol and not going to bars. Problem is, there is public wifi where he lives. I think the best option is having someone else set up parental controls and disallowing internet access is the best option. While trashing Safari is not bad, the OP can just as easily download it. Any block he put up, he can just as easily take down. I think you need someone else to do the deed, OP.

LOL. Does it work if you just put "http://" into it?

Interesting that there is a program out there to enable us to self-censor our activities. If we updated Foucault's Discipline and Punish, maybe we could include a chapter on the internalization of discipline in the digital age.

I think HTTP and HTTPS are basically the same thing, and both will direct you to the site, but I think it's a way of displaying the site. I'm probably wrong, but I was reading somewhere that HTTPS does something different. That's just my perspective on your comment. And just so this post isn't off topic...

There's nothing wrong with tapping onto a local network with no password as long as you're just browsing a few "things". Just make sure you don't do things like purchases or log on to financial sites and stuff similar. But just browsing around google for The Adams Family, or something else, you should be reletively fine.

Oh and I don't understand what you mean by "I don't want to access the internet by wifi"...How else are you going to do it? You could try wired, but I honestly don't understand why you wouldn't want internet access through wireless. And don't go trying to take things out...you may not be able to put it back, never know. As to your saying people with more "self discipline", you can do it too. Try using a triggered timer. I'm sure there's some sort of timer that you can trigger to close a certan application on time. Or try limiting yourself. Trust me, I have a lot of medical issues I have to address, so I have to not waste time on the computer. I usually just set a timer and when it rings, I get off.

Hope that's what you meant by you don't want to waste hours on things, or else this post will humliate me to a brink. Hope I helped...somewhat... :p
