Okay, a few things.

First, help me welcome The.316 to the Mac OS League. He played in the Founders league last year, but due to a scheduling conflict with that league's draft, he and ricksnagwell traded leagues. So, show some hospitality to our new player before you start talking smack to him. :D

Second, here's our draft order as determined by random.org

Draft Order:
1. Green Bay CheeseChamps
2. Horse Wranglers
3. mscriv
4. AA Chunzilla
5. Joe Buck Yourself
6. Gibbs Free Energy
7. The.316
8. Who Dey
9. Fireshot
10. Colorado Jackalopes

Oh hell yeah!!!!!

I see this league is full as is the Hardware league. I read above there was a third league but I didn't see it. Anyone know if that's full as well?

ETA- Found it, looks like they are all full. If any openings happen last minute, let me know.

Allright folks, looking at everyone's availability we are going to set the draft for Sunday afternoon at 4:30 PM Central Standard Time. I'm open to moving it back a little to maybe 5:00 or 5:30 if there is someone who just absolutely can't make the earlier time.

Draft Time - Sunday at 4:30 PM Central Standard Time

If you can not make the draft then I would encourage you to set the auto draft settings and to not just leave it to the computer. The ESPN computer will take the highest rank player automatically and you will end up with multiple players at one position. In another league an auto drafter who did not set their settings ended up with 3 QB's and defenses.

I've stated a few times Sunday is completely a no go for me. Feel free to give my spot to someone else.

Sorry wvuwhat, but I'm trying to find a time that works for the most possible folks. You've been a long standing player in our leagues, are you sure you want to drop out as opposed to auto drafting?

Let me ask this, would you be available to draft Monday morning? I could possibly work a switch into the other MR League that drafts then.

Mscriv, when is the draft?

No one has asked for it to be moved back so at this point we are set with 4:30 PM Central tomorrow.

Just incase he does drop out, I can be a go. Just a backup plan should it come to that.

Okay Everyone,

I wanted to detail some adjustments we are making to the league this year.

1. Decimal scoring: we are moving to decimal scoring to more accurately reflect offensive statistics earned. This means that players will earn points for every yard they gain or lose as opposed to only scoring for every 10 yards gained. Additionally, this method should virtually eliminate ties in the weekly match ups. Sure, it's still possible to tie, but highly unlikely when scores are now calculated to .00 totals.

2. Trade deadline: The trade deadline has been set for November 13th. This is earlier in the year than we have had previously, but the reason for the change is to eliminate any controversy surrounding late season trades between top teams and bottom teams in the league. The general rule of trading is that the transaction be free from collusion and that both owners be genuinely attempting to improve their teams. Trades late in the season involving teams that are already eliminated from the playoffs make these judgement calls difficult as there is no way an eliminated team can improve their standing. An earlier trade deadline should greatly improve this situation as most teams will still be in the hunt for a playoff spot.

3. Defensive Scoring: Defensive scoring has been slightly adjusted to the following point totals in regards to points allowed.

  • 0 points allowed (10)
  • 1-17 points allowed (7)
  • 18-27 points allowed (4)
  • 28-34 points allowed (1)
  • 46+ points allowed (-4)

I still need to set up/double check the final week to week schedule for match ups, but otherwise the league is pretty much set and good to go. Let me know if you have any questions.

Totally agree with this change. Have had this in a couple of my other leagues for a few years now... in other leagues I've played (which switch to decimal scoring this year too), if a point was earned every 20 yards rushing that would mean that a back that gained 99 yards got the same number of points as one that got 80. Those 19 yards should count.

What is painful under this scoring system is losing to another team by 0.02 points (has happened to me in the past). :)

The Bengals Defense is up for trade if anyone needs a good defense. I'd be looking for either a WR or RB in return.

That is the thing with a 10 team league, you can stack up your bench pretty nicely. In my other draft, which is a 12 team league, you have to do a bit more research.

Well, the Marshawn Lynch for Payton Manning trade is already having a big impact with the performance "Beast Mode" turned in last night. I guess we'll just have to see if Brady can be a solid QB1 to make up for the loss of Manning.

And Doug Martin for Romo, was an interesting trade as well. I'm surprised Gibbz was willing to take Romo when he already had Newton and Wilson.

I like how active you guys are being though. :)
