I use my MacBook Pro to remotely on my network log into my iMac and transfer files back and forth. I also use an app on my iPad called File Browser to browse files on my iMac. Based on what I described as far as how I use my Macs, is there a reason to look into getting Mac OS Server?

    Thanks.

Not really....unless you start sharing the data on that Mac with multiple users and/
or access your Mac remotely from the web.

Even if I decide to access my Mac remotely over the web, can't you do that with remote desktop iOS apps or the File Browser app I currently use? What is the advantage to using Mac OS Server?

    Thanks.

No,the server part is just to make management of multiple accounts and websites easier. What you appear to be doing with your macs is already covered by basic *nix
