When I connect to Wi-Fi and Internet at the same time, no Internet works at all. if I want to use ethernet I have to disconnect Wi-Fi and vice versa.

I would like to have them both connected so when I disconnect from Internet, it just use Wi-Fi

I am using a Belkin gigabit ethernet adapter on m1 Mac book pro via usb-c.

Is this a bug? Is there a way to fix it?

I'm connected via Ethernet AND have WiFi turned on at all times with no issues.

You may want to try making Ethernet the first connection option, and WiFi the second. You can do that in the Network tab in System Settings using the little drop-down menu at the bottom right.

I don't know why you can't connect to the Internet using WiFi only. That's a whole issue in itself that's difficult to diagnose.

Thanks what I have done also. Who makes your Ethernet adaptor and how is it connected?

I have two Ethernet and one wifi connected, no problem.

The first is a Caldigit TS3+ hub connected to a Thunderbolt port, the second is a Maxonar Ethernet-to-USB-C-adapter, connected the same way.

This is on a 14" M1.

I have a Mac Studio, so that just uses the built-in ethernet port. My 16" Intel MacBook Pro uses the Belkin USB-C adapter and works exactly the same in my use.

I called apple and we tried in safe mode and didn’t work either. They recommended reinstalling the OS. Will I lose data doing this?

The same thing happens on my m2 mac book air which I restored from Time Machine from mac book pro

In that case try a fresh install.

I would make a backup/clone, format the drive and then install, just to see if wifi/Ethernet works as expected. If it does, you can migrate back from the backup and see what happens.
Ok I might give that a try on one computer. I really hope it is still broken so I don't have to rebuild and apple can fix with next update. I did that a year ago just to start fresh (probably 1st time in 10 years)

Do you think the genis bar could fix it? (I could take one computer there and then repeat what they did)

I had a similar issue with an upgraded Ventura, but I could not join WiFi -OR- get an Ethernet IP, it kept self-assigning.

go to System Settings / Privacy and Security and scroll allll the way to the bottom; check to see if the word 'Filters' is in the list.

If it's there, select it and see if you don't have some piece of antivirus software enabled that's mucking things up. I had to disable a filter that had been left by an old install of Norton/Symantec and once I did this my WiFi and Ethernet immediately started working again.
