Of course it is...

It'll be out real soon. I just updated to 10.1.2 (30mb) via my 56k. I get to do that all over again...

Re: B

Do you have any friends with a fast connection? If so there are generally downloadable packages available for OS X updates.

I suppose you would need a way to get it to your machine then...maybe a CDRW? Zip disk? iPod and firewire?

Just trying to help. :) I was in the same boat as you until recently. Sucks.

I think we'll see it later this week...

it's been floating around for a few weeks now....I think we'll end up seeing it later this week....Thurs perhaps?

so what happens to those of u who have older builds? do u have to reinstall it from Apple's final?

A friend of mine at work said that he had a copy of both 10.1.3 AND...

...wait for it...

a copy of 10.2!

- I'll keep you posted as to whether he's FULL OF IT or not...

- although, I tend to believe him, as he's come up with the goods before...

PS - sorry for throwing a spanner in the works with this one.

both 10.1.3 and 10.2 have been floating around on the net for a couple of weeks now (just try looking on carracho!), but as i'm sure mac15 will testify, it's not a good idea to be using them just yet :p

yep, 10.1.3 and 10.2 are out (leaked) Word is that 10.1.3 had a last minute error with languages or something that Apple held off the release so they could fix it. So it could/should be out as soon as they fix it, of course SpyMac says it won't be for a while, so we'll see. Also, you can't upgrade from this 10.1.3, you would have to re-install 10.1 and update that (what i read anyway)

As for 10.2, i was going to get it, but I heard because it's an early beta that it's slow, a lot of features aren't working (like springloaded folders) so it doesn't sound like it would be very fun to install right now.

Spymac does not say it will be awhile. That is just a reader mail.
Anyway.. I want 10.2! (Spring folders)

Just to keep things consistent, I hope that 10.1.3 will change the old Indigo iMac picture in the Finder windows to the new iMac. Does anybody who has a beta version know whether this is true or not?

Ok, SpyMac says that a reader says it will be a while. Same thing. If they were not saying it, they would not have posted it without saying "we're not saying this but he is saying that it will not be released for a while"

Get what I'm saying?

Iwas given 10.1.3 by a friend on cd-rom. I installed it and seem to have no problems. Was this a bad idea?

..

Yup, bad idea...! -It's illegal....8) -And do expect crashes once in a while...
And you MIGHT not be able to upgrade to 10.1.4/10.2 when time is..

10.1.3 not ready yet

it wasn't a bad idea to upgrade to 10.1.3 now unless you really don't want to reinstall from 10.1 later. When the GM 10.1.3 goes out you'll have to reinstall all the way up, but thankfully on X it's really not that big of a deal.

You just have to realize that anything earlier than officially released is a development version, and as the 10.1.3 release notes say, don't install it except on a development machine so you won't have to go through the reinstall procedure on a machine with your data on it.

I'm sure that the current 10.1.3 is fairly stable, but if you see strange things you're probably not just being paranoid ;-)

Don't reinstall 10.1

You shouldn't have to reinstall 10.1.

Delete the package receipt from the receipts folder and install the GM update. Worst case you have to install it as root.

Unix users are here now, we don't scare easily :)

HAHA, we need more big brothers like this!! X is still a little intimidating whne you think about what it all can do.

installing 10.1.3 root

If removing the receipt doesn't do the trick how do I install 10.1.3 GM as root?

Thanks

P.S. Didn't realise using 10.1.3 was illegal! Though know it was stoopid!

Cheers

I installed 10.1.3 5Q28

I installed 10.1.3 5Q28 on my TiPb and I do not suggest it to anyone else, ever since then, the system does some crazy things during starup, then it freezes and crashes totally everytime it wakes up after sleep.... it's horror, I have to run 9.2 !!!
I hope I can upgrade to the final version of 10.1.3 and I also hope that its better.....

has anyone else experienced the same???

Spring loaded folders?

I've heard a lot of talk about spring loaded folders, but I have yet to see a description of what they are. Someone care to enlighten me?

You've used OS 9 before, right? It's in OS 9. It's when you drag a file onto a folder and wait about a second or so... the folder will flash and open up and reveal the contents inside. You're still dragging the file, of course. So then, say there's another folder inside that folder you just opened up. You drag the file over to that folder and IT opens up to reveal its contents, and so on and so forth.

It's basically a shortcut for dragging a file into a deeply nested folder without having to open up all the folders beforehand. It's very practical.

i have 10.1.3 and it does horrible things when it wakes from sleep. Is there anyway to remove it?

I get horrible things waking from sleep on 10.1.2, can't put to g4 dp800 to sleep, wakes up with "DOS" like command line poking through aqua? and freezes.

any ideas?

sorry to drift off topic :)
but spring loaded folders are coming in 10.1.3? or do we have to wait for 10.2? damn!

I updated to 10.1.3 today and have no problems at all. Have not seen any speed improvements but it dows make iTunes full screen work smoother.
