I think we will se 10.2.6 coming out as after the 10.2.5 there are up to 5 month before the release of panther...
There will certainly be another update!
( panther is supposed to be released in september or am i wrong ? )

According to Looprumors, Panther is due in the autumn.

But to paraphrase...

I want my 10.2.5!!!
(and my Safari Beta 2)

Not exactly, it states quite clearly that it's also available now via "Software Update" for free. This will also be a downloadable update. Problem is that it isn't there to be downloaded yet, so why has Apple stated that it is in a posted page?

This seems like a screw up, and the page may get pulled or at least edited soon. A thread is starting in the Apple Forums...

Just in case any one is adding numbers of people waiting for these things, you can add one more.

yeah

I may have missed a detail somewhere, but if they are charging $20 for the update cd, why then, are they going to offer it as a free download later?

As posted already, it's for those people without internet connection or a very low bandwidth connection.

The $20 pays for printing/packaging, etc... Yes, you could argue that the wholesale is probably more like $3 but whatchagonna do. You are going to pay for having it on a CD to take anywhere. I don't have a CD burner etc... and want to carry it with me, etc... who knows. Apple and many others have done this in the past.

Also, what's "Kerberos?"

The 10.2.5 Update delivers enhanced functionality and improved reliability for the following applications, utilities, services, and technologies: Address Book, AirPort, AppleScript, Bluetooth, Classic compatibility, Disk Copy, Disk Utility, Finder, Help Viewer, iChat, Image Capture, IP Firewall, Kerberos , Mail, OpenGL, Print Center, Rendezvous, and Sherlock.

Not exactly sure about the details, but I think it's an authentication framework for secure communication.

Available in Your Software Update

I'm downloading from Software Update as I'm typing this!

10.2.5 available for download now via Software Update

I am updating to 10.2.5 as we speak via Software Update at 2:45pm eastern. :)

Chris, the updated.

Added: VersionTracker has more detailed info on the update.

Shoot! I check this thread, then I check the iPod thread and 10.2.5 is already out. Found out on Looprumors, while looking at their mockup of the ipod. Nice, by the way.

Happy downloading!

I bought the 10.2.5 CD because I have only the built in 56k v90 modem connection.

New hard drive: Install Jaguar from 10.2 CD, then upgrade with the 10.2.5 CD.
... or is that too simple?

I really wanted to add yet another Apple CD to my collection. :D

I hear where you're coming from. I only have dial-up at home, partly because I am having difficulty finding affordable equipment and services that will allow me to get DSL or the like. Where I live in the UK, all of the offered DSL modems have USB connectors and not Ethernet and so far all of the units I have tried have had no appropriate Apple USB drivers, other than those for OS 9. :(

Anyway, what I do is get someone with a high speed connection to d/l the required software updates and burn them onto a disk for me, usually a re-writeable, that way I can have a back-up of the latest SW update at the minimum of cost.
