just yesterday I had a usb related freakout with my Griffin Powerwave -- Hope this helps and it never happens again.

I won't be installing it, either. I have had a lot of problems resulting from system updates over the past two months. I downgraded my version of Jag and things got much better. Now I fear updates, instead of looking forward to them.

Also, when the hell is Apple going to release some bug fixes for Core MIDI and Core Audio? Am I the only one who thinks it's foolish to leave the pro audio market with a half-finished solution?

T610

I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty psyched about the upcoming T610: http://www.sonyericsson.com/t610/

with that and SEC (Sony Ericsson Clicker) - you've got a sweet bluetooth system.

Not sure when it's coming out though. I think I read that it will be called T616 in North America (due to different GSM Bands) and will be out Q2 2003 aka anytime now. I was going to get the T68i through that amazon deal where you got the free phone with a 1 year T-mobile service, but I wasn't impressed with the mixed reviews of the phone. When I heard about the T610, I figured I'd wait. The guy that developed SEC seems psyched about the phone too:

Hey ElGreco -- check out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ericssonclient/messages/ for P800 info. Lots of threads.

Well, if we start seeing updates come out like that, then maybe we'll even see, in a few years, version 10.10.220, where, not only can we get all the music we want for $.99 (per song), but we can also make all the long distance phone calls we want for the same amount... :D ;)

An iChat update would've been nice...

I mean - there they are harping on about Video Conferencing, but it's looking more and more likely as if that feature will be supplied on Panther.

Panther Piss.

no samba fix though...

I know this fix is primarily for the USB hub issues, but I was hoping they had fixed whatever was broken in samba sharing in 10.2.5. I still can't connect to my work PC like I used to.

im sure their gonna save video conferencing for panther. just to help justify the cost.

i wont be downloading this update till i get the all clear from the boards.

WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UT2K3!!!!!! I CANT WAIT!!!

Anyway, I would like to update to 10.2.6 (I'm running 10.2.4), but the Combo Update is 84.4MB and I have 56k. Last time I remember, the 10.2.5 update is only 40+MB, and if the 10.2.6 Update is less than 10MB, then that'd only be about 50Mb to DL.

Should I DL the updates separately, or just get the Combo? Is there any difference?

One more thing, I have a FEELING that UT2K3 is coming soon, why else would it be in the kbase article??

edit:
Not fair
frown.gif
....they removed the 10.2.5 update. But I guess it's for the benefit of the public; it was causing problems....

I was pretty psyched until I found an article on google indicating it would retail for $700. I hope that was some foreign currency, because I can't see it having a reasonable price, even with cell-co. subsidies.

At 6.1 MBs, this soon after 10.2.5, and looking at the "enhancments", it sounds more like a bug fixing patch than an "update". Not that I'm complaining, I was just hoping the next "update" would bring iChat into the world of decent chat apps.

-p

Yeah. Is iChat the lamest? or what?

The T610 will cost around $300 with 2 year contracts and $400 with a one year. The p800 is now down to $550 retail to own it outright, so expect the T610 to be pretty affordable by Christmas.

Hahah, that was pretty damn funny.

I repair my permissions from the jag disc more than I should have to. Certainly I do it more now than with previous updates when I hardly had to worry. I have repaired permissions one day 4 times after 4 consecutive crashes. kernel panics really suck. I hope this update helps the problem.

Apple computer is far from saintly to warrant such blind obiedience, by the way. I feel like you trivialize the problems I've had in past month with the OS. Its been a real bind in my productivity and has most definately raised my stress level a bit.

that the T616 won't be out until Q3.
There's pictures of a presentation from a couple months ago, so that seems pretty reliable info.

$800 eh? Damn. $300-$400 with a new service plan sounds almost reasonable...

Great, I've always wanted a cell phone that can break my bank account.

Warning! Not using your mac under 10.2.6 will cause kernel panics.

1. I updated to 10.2.6
2. Restarted computer
3. Launched Safari
4. Did not browse any pages.
5. Left the computer to go watch 24.
6. Came back to discover that I had a kernel panic while I was away.
7. Posted this.
8. Going to repair permissions.
9. Note: I have no USB connections other than a Logitech dual laser mouse. Could this be my problem?
10. Will post results after repairing permissions.

If your on 10.2.4 then you can repair permissions whithout using your disk.

Just goto Disk Aid in your Util folder, then choose to repair permissions...you dont even have to restart.

CoreAudio/CoreMIDI

Also, when the hell is Apple going to release some bug fixes for Core MIDI and Core Audio? Am I the only one who thinks it's foolish to leave the pro audio market with a half-finished solution?[/B]

What's wrong with them? I can't say I know of too many complaints, especially after 10.2.3. Plus, apparently plenty of people (Steinberg/Pro Tools/Logic/MOTU (soon) users) seem to think Jag works fine for audio...but I don't use OS X for audio on a regular basis, so I wouldn't have any direct experience with any problems.

TIA

Most likely it would be 10.2.a - software companies like to use hexidecimal notation.

BS, I upgraded to 10.2.6, left half a dozen apps running (including Mail & Safari) for 2 hours and came back to my system running just fine. Your bad experience doesn't mean it will happen to everyone :D
