i'm just sick of checking my for this update. i think i have checked every 2 hours since last monday.
me, too. i've been doing "!!" in terminal for the past week!

I hope for an "Out of Office " reply in Mail.app that ties up with iCal. Setting up a rule to reply is not good enough. PC's have had this for years. There was a fix in squirrel mail (if running an OSX Server, which I am). but that was broken in 10.4. If 10.4.3 was to fix this I would be a happy bunny! and my office could run more professionally!

Since those kinds of auto-replies are a big no-no, from a security standpoint, I really hope this isn't implemented in Mail. To let someone know you're not at the office is a piece of information easily exploited by a social engineer...

Just hurry up and release it please! I've been having quite a few kernel panics when my PowerBook recently :(

10.4.3

I have not had a lot of problems with tiger, but i have had a few. My powerbook likes to sometimes do this crazy thing where it wakes up but the monitor does not come on and i have to restart. I hope that gets fixed, does anyone else have that problem? Also, when the screen saver comes on there is a noticable bar of distortion that moves from bottom to top of the screen, wtf? I am so tired of checking for this update, i think im going to just wait a whole week to check again.

X.4.3 update

We will know if apple releases the X.4.3 today in 11 hours

If apple doesn't release it today, then that tells me that X.4.3 update isn't ready 'GM' status.. I have not had a problem with X.4.2.. I think Current version of Tiger is More Stable than 'XP' @ any version..

iphil, I'm in exactly the same situation as you. I have not had any major Tiger-related issues (with the exception of beachballs that go away on their own). I agree with all of your points...although I haven't experienced many XP issues either.

well before i switched to Mac platform, XP = pita on use/up-keep

Now im on Mac platform, i just run maintance programs - MacJanitor/repair permissions.. to just keep my Mac in top shape.

And when 'XP' ask for up-dates it'll do 4 restarts even it's 1 up-date..

^^
the last statement is IMHO ..

And in xp I'll usually Re-boot the system @least 2 times per day to clear the ram/cache..

Current version of Tiger? More like current version of 'OS anything' :p

I haven't had any problems with .4.2 however I guess I wouldn't necessarily know if they were system or app related sometimes, so I might have had some. Either way, things are running fine now but updates are welcome if they fix issues, even if I haven't come across them yet.

Yes, my wife is also very happy with 10.4.2. It fixed crashing problems that she had with Panther. At least each passing day we are getting closer to 10.4.3.

Hopefully that glitch with the 1.8Ghz PMs will be fixed.

I think Apple should give people with this problem the option to maybe pay a little extra and trade-in the faulty 1.8 for a new or refurb 2.0 if not. Seems to be a pretty major issue to me  at least my computer freezing when it felt like it wouldnt make me that happy - not at these prices.

and what I meant by 'OS anything' was that anything OS_ is better than any revision of XP ;)
I understood what you meant, I just used it differently than you intentioned perhaps....

Srry efoto,

my mind as not changed to the 'Mac Thinking'.. It's the M$ft washing still has a effect on my thinking after 20 years of windows OS.. And only 18 days of Mac OS.

No need for an apology, no harm done. I am coming up to my one-year Mac anniversary, I'm taking my PB out to dinner and then who knows  ;)

I really do love OSX, but if Windows machines got their acts together and offered a better product, I would buy it. It's nice having OSX as a relief, but I admit to still using XP daily on my desktop/server at home. I can't wait until I can actually afford a PowerMac as I'll then have no arguable reason to continue using XP :)

a 97mb download for me. First time it slowed...then locked up. Next time it downloaded quickly. Will restart the computer now (gulp).

it's taking awhile to find it via terminal...

there it is...downloading now...99,310kb.

Taking me all of 2 minutes to download, I love fast internet :)

Not sure if this is related or not, but Safari seems to be hogging a ton of resources lately. Anyone else having this or know if this update address anything like that?
