+1 to hating the new expose.

Slower, resizes all my windows so they are no longer proportional, moves them to a different area of the screen instead of just somewhere nearby.

And i've got a bug where the windows would "slide" back to the wrong place and then snap to the correct place... really annoying.

I don't use minimize so i don't care about it showing those windows.

+2 to hating the new Expose.

I also don't like how my windows aren't proportioned and how I have to see my minimized apps now. Another thing I don't like in Snow Leopard is how they changed the Grid view for Stacks on the Dock. I love how you can scroll and navigate inside folders, but I HATE how BIG they made the icons.

I hope Apple releases a feature in the next update for settings to change the icon sizes for Grid view and window sizes for Expose.

I apologize in advance to those who will read this question over and over again, but I want to be sure that I will not necessarily need to buy the retail SL in future in order to do a clean install, I only own the up to date DVD.

I installed SL yesterday over my current 10.5.8 and everything's fine.

Say, there will be some time in future when my Mac may not be working properly anymore and I need to do an erase install of SL, and currently I will have SL running, obviously. Say, I have done this erase install in the meantime and there's no trace of Leopard anymore. A clean Snowy Leopard on my HD.

Will I be able to wipe my disc again and install SL from the up to date DVD, even if I have done an erase install before?

I know that 29 bucks is rather nothing but you know, I would feel pretty stupid having the up to date DVD AND having to buy the retail disc, and both will be laying around to a long time.

I hope you understand what I mean, it's a bit confusing  And sorry again :)

In short, can do a wipe of the drive then install if you have Leopard on their first.

If you buy a new hard drive, the UTD wont let you install SL w/out installing Leopard first.

Personally Leopard to Snow Leopard has been a nice upgrade..

Was it worth the £25 i paid? . . . probably not . . .

But either way i still like the tweaks they have made and the speed improvements are welcomed.

Snow Leopard

Dont waste your money, just quite yet. Lots of my programs will not run. Hey, $30 bucks is $30 bucks.
"Snow Leopard" should be called "Snow Leopard, Vista for the Mac".

Looking at snowleopard.wikidot.com most are getting in gear to get compatability...

Majority of people have no issues with Snow Leopard, just a very small number of people that do have issues are the ones that need to update their applications for SL. A lot of time that requires waiting, this isn't a reason for calling SL a waste of money or Vista. That stuff happens for every OS of every kind in all history. Even a service pack of Windows will break some applications. It'll get fixed over time.

SL=Vista?

Comon, guys lighten up just a tad. Its not the end of the world. I had a windows lover next to me and it made us laugh, cause he is always wanking about Vista. My main programs work it is just the little-fun-time-wasting-Apps that have to issue. But, know I know to put a disclaimer so people dont get in a huff.:D

I installed the thing, and it almost all went well. Is there a place I can inform Apple about the things I don't think work correctly?

I guess they might be snowed under there on launch week, but I'd like to tell them where a couple of things don't work.

For me, Safari is the worst app. It crashes at least once a day. GarageBand '08 is also pretty bad. Haven't tried iMovie HD 6 or iDVD yet.

Other than that, SL is a welcome upgrade.

http://bugreport.apple.com (requires a free apple developer account)

Please do try to be specific and thorough in bug reports though. "It doesn't work"-type bugs just overload the screeners for no gain.

I forgot to mention, I don't really like the new Automator, though I haven't done much with it. I do like the services section. I wish there was the "Custom" button like there was before.

So I have it in front of me and don't know if I should open it. LOL Honestly, I'd probably be still running Tiger if I didn't get Leopard for free. Like most, I picked it up because it's only $34.99 (CAN).

I ask Apple but he didn't know. I would if upgrade if it improves the speed of...

Handbrake and Roxio Titanium Toast 9.

i had preordered my snow leopard via the up to date program in early august. It shipped on the 27th and i still havnt got it!! :(( has anyone else not received their copy yet?

Sorry to ask this here...

Is there a listing compiled here somewhere showing which Macs have had glitches with the upgrade?

for example I am still using an iMac model 5,1 (white, 2ghz duo/1gb/160hd/radeonX1600.

I have purchased the family pack, but not loaded it up yet for fear of problems with my older iMac.

Other stupid question, While SL says it will free up around 7gb or hd, and others here claim up to 19gb or more, I only have 2gb left. SL says it needs 5gb even though it claims a smaller footprint and savings around the 7gb mark.
How risky do you think it is to upgrade with only 2gb available?

Anything that meets the requirements will work. With a new OS, it's almost always software bugs, not hardware.

SL counts GBs differently, so no matter how much space you think you gained, it's more likely that you gained just about what was advertised.

Do a clean install.

I had a problem, from leopard times that I hoped to be fixed in snow leopard but I had no luck.

Network places in the right pane of finder seem to be unresponsive after some time. The do not display the real content of a network place, they disconnect and when I try to connect again this does not happen (connect to server) etc.

Is this normal something like this?

Because i bought my macbook over the summer i got a major discount on Snow Leopard (bought it for only $10!). I like that i got about 8GB back in my hard drive but other than that i notice no difference except Itunes freezes a lot.
