since 2005 i've anxiously awaited every OSX release and updated ASAP.
this year 2011, OSX 10.7 is a disappointment.

• no resolution independence
• no changes to awfully old Finder interface (still no CUT & PASTE)
see: http://totalfinder.binaryage.com/
and: http://www.cocoatech.com/

• no themes - still the ancient Aqua
• no new file system like ZFS/UFS
• no advanced multiple-file copy behavior (etc. stacked paused queue for maximum speed - alike Windows 8)
• awful mission control - bring the spaces back as in 10.6
• useless lauchpad - who the hell needs that, you have APP stack on dashboard already!

these are the main issues that are on my mind.

How does that relate to 10.8?

And, not everyone has an "APP" stack on dashboard. I happen to use Launchpad a lot.

How does that NOT relate ?! Next OSX fat cat 10.8 better not tun into vista for sure.

Wrong. Anyone can have APP stack folder it's default feature.

Launchpad: So then don't use it? I find it much more useful than a stack in my dock because I can organize my apps.

You don't need neither (app stack nor Launchpad).
You install Alfred.
You typ in 2 or max 3 letters and it shows the app you want to launch. You hit enter you are done. A million times faster than clicking through lists of stuff. It is so fast it works even for switching running apps.
Clicking through lists is for noobs and grandmas or if you just cannot get your hand to the keyboard but other wise grow up.

BTT I would like to see a Cheetah or something lean and quick like a Serval. But I am betting on some pretty marbled cat. I hope it is not going to be some big fat useless cat with very fat features.

They both have their purposes. You use command-space to access spotlight(no need to download third-party applications) then search for the app should you KNOW the name of it. When you don't know it you go through Launchpad in which case the organizing feature comes in handy. Say you're looking for a video editing app that you don't know the name of, you simply open LaunchPad, find the folder you made of video editing apps and click on it. Instead of looking through an alphabetical list.

We already had cheetah, that was 10.0, the first release of OS X back in 2001. What we need, is cougar.

Personally, I miss the aqua from Tiger and Panther. Leopard and up is all grey and looks kinda boring. I still love OS X over windows anyday, but windows 7 is much more fun to look at. If i recall, we had more UI customization in mac os 9 then we do now. there were so many themes you could install.

Launch Pad is great and I think is wayy over do. Until leopard we had to go into the applications folder. Windows, has had a start menu since 1994 so that I will give them. I never had to go to the program files folder to launch an app even without a shortcut/alias. Or better yet, lets bring back the old apple menu :)

lion wasn't the revolutionary change i thought it would be. finder is still a clumsy system of file management. maybe next time

Mac OS X 10.8 (Sabre)

I'm willing to bet that "Sabre" is the next cat name for Apple considering Lion is the king of the jungle. The only cat bigger than the Lion is the Sabre-Tooth Tiger.

When I first switched to Mac, I bought Pathfinder. After I "got used to" the Mac way, I stopped using Pathfinder. More recently, I became fed up with the lack of cut and paste and purchased TotalFinder. Unlike Pathfinder, Totalfinder is a Finder plugin so the features I want are there (like cut/paste, and tabbed finder windows) when I run finder.
