Mac OS X back up help!

Hi, I am wondering whether it is possible to back up a 160gb drive which currently only used 40gb of storage with a 60gb drive.
Would it let me back up the 40gb data onto the 60gb drive or I woiuld need to buy a drive with more than 160gb in order to back up.

You can back up data to any HDD you want.

If you've got a 160GB HDD, with 40GB used and want that 40GB backed up, you need an HDD with at least 40GB.

Yes, and with CarbonCopyCloner too.
