I just recently tried putting in my OS X cd that came with my mini and for some reason whenever I try to install garageband or whatever it tells me there was an error with the installation and quits...has anyone have had this problem before with their system installation cd before?

Does it look scratched? If not, can you try using Pacifist to see if you can manually extract it?

I am able to manually extract it myself. I looked at the DVD and its not scratched or anything :-\

Lets say i wanted to do an archive install would this be a problem or no?

Well, I personally wouldn't try an Archive & Install since it may stall halfway and leave you with a messed up system. Is it stalling on other apps or just Garageband? Can it install anything?

it seems that it only does it when it needs disc 2...what could be the problem with that?

Maybe disk 2 is damaged.

Try making a copying disk #2 to a new disk and see if that works.
