Smart status is no guarantee! My HD was failing and my smart status said verified.

i never said it would indicate 100%, but it can be of some help.

Yea but the weird thing is that I only get the permission errors when I update iTunes, quicktime and then Leopard to 10.5.7.

Right now I only have three errors and they all come from using iTunes 8.2. If I update to 10.5.7 I get about 25-30 new ones that wont go away. Tried reinstalling about four times already and it never fails. No errors until I update. Works pretty ok now as long as I stay off the internet
