hey guys..didnt know where else to turn (before going to an apple store)

i formatted my mac and whenever i install mac os x, and it reaches "installing Essentials" after 63%, it says "there were errors installing software, press restart to try again" ive done that over and over and yet the problem persists...i even installed a new hard drive but still....please...any info will be great since apple store is downtown which is 2 hours from wer i live...thank you all....

I still love Macs :D

It seems like there is a problem with the disk, try cleaning it, or if possible, trying another one

If not, open Disk Utility from the install disk, and choose to Repair Disk :)

It sounds like there is a problem with you install disk. I think you will have to take it to the apple store or where ever you got the disk.

i went to best buy and asked an apple retail employee friend of mine and he tried a leopard disk and yet it still stalled....so, it cant be the disk...in fact, i remember updating 10.4.11 but it didnt go thru...so i tried formatting...and this happened...any clue?

Having the same problem.

As I proceed with the reinstall of the original install disc it keeps on giving me errors after 60-90%. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was going on but I just let it sit for awhile and redid a couple of hours later and it started working but it did the same thing again. I figure that it must be overheating. So I am doing the reinstall in front of a fan and it seems to be working pretty well. Oh to let you know the specs of my unit that I am updating: 2.16ghz, 2.0g ram, 320g hdd MacBook pro 15". Best of luck to you and hopefully to me too.
