I have a new Mini with Lion and a 2009 uMB with SL and I do prefer SL.

What is interesting to all of this is Apple is still selling SL on their website? Why would they keep selling it and not support at least Mail, iCal, Addressbook, and bookmarks at minimum?

I think it was a wrong move to only support iCloud in Lion only, but until there is news either way, I will run to versions and two systems until I can support my 4S in SL.

I hope they add it to snow leopard also since my original intel macbook can't be upgraded to lion. That said, they need to keep selling snow leopard because to upgrade from leopard, you must go to snow leopard first, then the mac store to get to lion. That is the only reason it is still for sale.

Kind of silly that you have to get SL then go to Lion? Well I am sticking with SL on my uMB and have to keep my 2011 Base mini with Lion I guess, but I am having issues with Lion that I never had with SL, like when scrolling a drive, as I slowly scroll downward, the scroll bar instantly goes all the way to the top of the list and I have to start scrolling again, very annoying, as I do NOT have this issue in SL.

Kind of frustrating that they have this large userbase and they always want folks to go with the latest iOS release, however in doing so you have to upgrade to iCloud, thus the need for Lion.

They need to realize folks will not just always get the latest and greatest OS, that SL works, it would only be fair to release an update to support Lion in SL.

I think this is one pig headed move on Apple's part and this is the one thing that frustrates me with Computers, especially being in the IT field for the last 23 years.

I can usnderstand dropping support for OS's older then 3 years, but trying to move forward you piss people off because there are reasons you can not upgrade especially if you spent a lot of money on software that has not been tested on Lion, bad move.

At one point my Mac Pro wasn't working, and I used a friends computer to set up iCloud (only Mail, as that's all I wanted with it).

Anyway, I do hope Snow Leopard gets iCloud support.

I wonder if Apple is going to hold out until June when MobileMe is discontinued to let he Snow Leopard users have iCloud.

You'd think they'd do that for their customers.

So when is s 10.6.9 supposed to be ready??

If it will be released, then I would bet it gonna be not any sooner than the .me service will end. The reason why I think it gonna be like that is simple - for now Snow Leopard users can use .me services as usual, Lion users get iCloud..but once the .me ends, which is sometimes in the middle of 2012, then Snow Leopard users will be without any service like that so they should add i Cloud support for SL IMHO.

What's the hold-up, Apple? Release 10.6.9 already !!!!!!

I think it's time to realize this is just a pipe dream. You might as well be holding out hope for the Powerbook G5.

It has been almost seven months since this rumor first surfaced; Lion is at 10.7.3 now and 10.8 is coming soon. There won't be any major new additions to 10.6, the next HW upgrades won't even support it.

I'm inclined to agree. The announcement of 10.8 is the final nail in the coffin for me. Fortunately, I'm getting my work MBP upgraded to Lion this week, but my old 1st gen MacBook now sadly joins the ranks of my other unsupported machines. Guess I'll be thinking of an upgrade in the next year or so if I can afford it!

Worth pointing out though... Hardware-wise, the machine is still pretty peachy. It's only the lack of software now that's letting it down. If I owned a Dell, it would've fallen apart like a clown car years ago. ;)

I was holding out too but I see the handwriting on the wall. SL is toast folks from the standpoint that Apple isn't going to give us new goodies if we insist on staying with old software.

Time to move forward I guess...

That's totally UNSAT. What about those of use who despise Lion? Those of us who would rather keep our Mac Pro / Logic Studio installations free from quirks, errors, and other various Lion-esque chicanery?

My Mac Pro and I want nothing to do with Lion. I already have iOS on my iPhone & iPad. And (unfortunately) my MBA came with Lion pre-loaded.

When June rolls around and Apple puts the kibosh on MobileMe and forces me to switch to iCloud, I won't be able to do a thing about it on my Mac Pro.

Welcome to Apple's new paradigm: you want the latest goodies, you'd better be running the latest OS, and make sure your HW isn't more than a couple years old either.

Personally I don't like Lion but I don't want iCloud either, so I'm happily sticking with Snow Leopard for the forseeable future. When MobileMe ends I'll go to Dropbox or something like it for online document storage (iCloud doesn't offer that for generic docs anyway), and I don't need an overhyped sync service to sync my own iPods.

New paradigm is right. I have been a fanboy since my first Mac Classic, we have three imacs, two iPhones and an iPad, but am now starting to feel that Apple are becoming the new Microsoft. I AM waiting to see whether the demise of MobileMe triggers the 10.6.9 update as I love Snow Leopard (and ironically Lion breaks my ancient MS Word which I still find useful).

However, in the meantime I have installed Ubuntu on an old lappy to start thinking through the critical path to escaping from the Apple environment entirely....
