Mac OS X Update...

Hello.

I have a 4GB iPhone unlocked and jailbroken.


If I update my iMac to 10.5.6, will I still be able to enter my iPhone into DFU mode?

I heard that this update doesn't allow the booting of an iPhone into DFU...

Replacing the kexts with the 10.5.5 ones tends to cause a number of unexpected results.

Keep swapping files around, or get a nice convenient USB hub you'll be sure to use again. Hmm... 🙄

This DFU problem in 10.5.6 is not universal. My wife's iMac from early 08 and my MBP Core duo have no problems entering DFU mode. This update must only affect certain hardware used in new models.

Yeah, it appears to be a bug in the latest USB driver for certain hardware. It's not deliberate as DFU mode is an official troubleshooting function.

Well, I do. It's just not powered. It's some crappy HP one.

Is this process easily reversible? I did it in order to update my jailbroken 3G to 2.2.1 and one of my ipods wouldn't work with my Mac after I did it.

I believe so, the process backed up the original files to a folder on your desktop.

If you replace the two kext files in the folder where the automator programme sits with the two from the backup and run the app again, you'll get back the originals - after a restart.
