Hey, my friend is having a problem with her macbook, particularly safari.
Its a 2008 Macbook OSX 10.5.8 with Safari 5 i believe. Whenever the safari is opened about 5-10 minutes into a session online the command + T command to open a new tab doesnt work. It simply doesnt open a new tab. Sometimes it would work but the previous tab that is opened will close the site and open a new tab in the old tab. Im personally a PC guy but i dont know much about macs os. I thought it was an external source that caused this problem. At a genius bar appt. an associate pointed out a BrowseMe program (i think thats the correct name) which is powered by yahoo that wasnt mac supported and he said that could have might caused the problem. We tried uninstalling it but it didnt work. We also tried reinstalling SAFARI completely but it again did not fix the problem. There is no problem with other internet browsers such as firefox. As well as all software updates for this computer were updated at home and at the apple customer support. Obviously this is a SAFARI problem but i cant tell for certain because it was reinstalled.
Can you help us since apple couldnt :(
Thanks
DreiZ

We'd need to see what processes are running on the computer in question. It is important that Safari is launched at the same time. On the affected computer, open Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities/) and type "ps -A" (no quotes) and enter. Then, please give us a list here of what is returned. You can edit out the name of the users if you want in the list, but please do a replacement edit like "non-admin user" or "admin user" (you can check System Preferences...: Accounts if you are unsure about a particular user) and do not edit out users you recognize as the system; otherwise, it might not be possible to tell with any degree of certainty whether there is a program that has gained inappropriate access in the system.
