So I had to help a friend install Verizon DSL software on her new mac, cause she lost the original CD. In search of the software I found this helpful method of using OSX for screen name access instead of always having to use Verizon software portal to log into your DSL.
Go to System Preferences > Network, select "Built-in Ethernet" and click "Configure", select PPoE and enter in your Verizon DSL account name and password. Voila! At the bottom select "PPPoE Options...", then "Connect automatically when needed" (You probably want to deselect all the other options unded "Session Options").
You should never have to use the Verizon log-in portal again.
