Hi,

has anyone come across this problem or can someone help me fix the following:

I have a .mac account and sometime ago changed the password ( online ). Now this new mobile me is out and I want to start syncing my email and contacts etc. but when I open System Preferences > .Mac, the ".Mac Member Name" is correct but the "Password" isn't ( there's too many characters ). It must still have my old password in there. So I change it and click the iDisk tab, then go back to the Account tab and the "Password" has reverted back to the old one again! This is weird and I'm wondering where it get it's info from ... maybe I can change it there? Is there something I can do in Terminal or a password file somewhere?

ALSO, If I go to me.com my username and new password works fine!

Please help, I'm going mental ...

I've found out why the .Mac password reverts to a 12 digit password ... it's for security reasons.

After many internet searched I've found a solution on another forum that worked a charm. After following these steps my Mac is syncing beautifully:
- In Finder, search for dotmac
- Delete any search results that end in .plist ( there may be several )
- Restart your Mac
- Go to System Preferences > .Mac > Sync and it should work fine!

This is a solution I found people had success with under Mac OSX 10.4.11

Hope this helps someone else before they go nuts too!
