Mac Password

Hi, My Mac turns on in the morning at the same time every morning. I was wondering if I put a password would it interfere with the mac booting into my desktop. If it does how could I fix this?
 
You can enable automatic login, which will work, regardless of password. However, it kinda defeats the purpose of a password.
