I just purchased a used powermac g4, and I need a password to startup the computer, and I don't have one. I cannot install the OSx software disc, as stated in another thread, because the drive won't even open on the tower without the password to boot up the system. Please let me know what I can do, if anything.
Thanks!

Or change the amount of memory in the machine. This should reset the Open Firmware.

Where does it ask for a password? We're assuming it is an Open Firmware password, but is it booting to the point of asking for a password on a username?

Have you tried booting the machine and holding down the mouse button to force the CD tray to open?
