Mac Pro '09 - My Review, after a few months.

Yes, but that doesn't stop them from trying to get the warranty to support it. 😱 😀 😛

I recall a backplane that came back with the connectors in a plastic baggie. 😱 Broke the joints, andtore traces off of the board. 🙄 I could see bad joints causing one to pop off (cold, and lead-free solder was much newer, so it was really horrible stuff), but they wouldn't have done the damage to the PCB that was there (not just lifted, but ripped off during an immediate removal). That meant there was a substantial "slamming home" of the drive.

I've had a Mac Pro since mid-2007, and I'm going to be putting together a hackintosh today. And you're right about the cases – while my case (Antec Sonata) is a very nice one, the Mac Pro's case is easier to get in to, better organized,and has a cleaner design. And it's also a lot heavier. 😀

Yeah, I thought about doing that too, but it was more of a time thing, and I gotta have AppleCare. But I wish Apple had a more mid-range tower. They used to do G3 Desktop and G3 MiniTower. 7600 and 8600/9600. Something below server class for those who need more than one HD or PCI slots. They could sell tons of i7 mini-towers geared towards gamers. Not sure why they ignore this market segment.

In my engineering opinion it's a neat, simple, well executed solution. But we're not going to agree so let's leave it there? 😉
