Ok, just picked up an old Mac Pro 1.1 ... never used it before.

Basically the first thing I want to do is replace the boot drive.
Is there any SSD drives that dont function with the 1.1?

Based on location, I have access to the following brands.
    Any ideas?

    Intel, Kingston, OCZ and Samsung.

    Cheers

People are all over the map on SSD's

I like OCZ, but there are alot of horror stories about Sandforce.

Crucial and Samsung are the most popular here, but if you step away from macrumors they become less popular.

I'll continue to buy OCZ, I've been 2 years on a Vertex 2 and about a year on an Agility 3 no problems

I went low-buck and bought a 240gb OCZ Agility drive. No complaints at all. They're running right at $200-$220 now. You have to get a proper drive sled to accomodate it, OWC sells them for $25

520 does work, at least the 120gb one I had to test before I bought the OCZ did.

Actually, you DO NOT want to buy an OWC drive sled for this machine. I recently installed some SSDs in a MacPro 3,1 and ran into compatibility issues (the sleds currently on OWC are for 4,1 and 5,1 models only). Below is the adapter OWC recommended to me; the sales rep said it was compatible back through 1,1, though I haven't tested it on a 1,1 yet. It installed on the 3,1, without a hitch. You may want to check with an OWC rep about the 1,1 first.

I have two OCZ SSDs and they have been working great for me. However, the frequency of complaints for Sandforce and these drives in particular seems to be quite a bit higher than any other. I believe OWC opened up the case and found a mixed bag of memory chips, including toy-grade chips that are not rated for reliable data.

My latest SSD is a Plextor. IIRC, it has the same controller as the Crucial which is highly regarded. It also has a longer warranty like the Intel and uses server grade memory. All those great features, backed by a long warranty, and it's one of the lower cost solutions as well. I couldn't turn it down really.

But Plextor isn't one of your available choices. From the list you provided, today I'd buy Intel.

Keep in mind all storage solutions can fail. Backup.
