I'm thinking of buying a older Mac Pro 2,1 and ripping out the guts and piecing together a 5,1 off of parts. Does anyone know if this is possible? Are the cases exactly the same?

Thanks

Sorry no. You can buy a 4.1 and make a 5.1

Yes, with a firmware flash. But thats using the same hardware. What I'm thinking is completely different hardware, just re-using the case.

But that might be the no you typed above.

The internal mechanical architectures are not the same. The outside might looks similar, but nothing is the same inside.
