    Hey Guys,

My setup seems to be a pretty common setup based on all my searches on Google so hopefully, someone has seen my issue or understands what I'm doing wrong.

So I have a Mac Pro, 2,1 that I received with GT 7300 video card running Snow Leopard. All runs fine, just out of date. So I wanted to upgrade to the newer MacOS 10.11.6 to support the latest and greatest.

So here is what I have completed so far:

    1. Installed new video card GeForce GT 120 as a secondary card. No monitor plugged in. Monitor still plugged into the old card.
    2. Installed El Capitan with bootefi update.
    3. All boots fine and runs fine. Video performance is bad as expected.
    4. Installed the appropriate driver for the GT 120.
    5. Shut down Mac and plug monitor into new card.
    6. Boot up and after about a minute, it comes up to what should be the login screen but all I see is a blurry image of the desktop background image. No login prompt or anything else.
    7. I can plug back into the old video card and it works but still have slow performance.
Not sure what I'm missing or what to do at this point. I have Googled hard but cannot find what I'm needing to get this fixed. Most of my searches led me to this site so I figured this was the right place to ask.

    Thanks for your time!

Maybe a better question would be, "How do I or can I get the GeForce GT 120 to work on a Mac Pro 2,1 running El Capitan?"

I'm trying a different video card later this week when the card comes in. Maybe the card is just broke?

    Thanks again!

have you try to remove GT 7300 and leave just the 120 in? I am wondering if the login screen is still on the output of the 7300.

Gt120 is a 64 bit efi card. No boot screen, picture at login. It works fine in a 2.1 and 1.1 - and no driver is needed. Put it in slot 1 and pull the 7300
