Check if your CPU tray is from a real 2010/2012, it will not work with a 2009, SMC mismatch:
  • 2009 trays with 2009 backplanes - SMC version 1.39f5 for both
  • 2010/2012 trays with 2010/2012 backplanes - SMC version 1.39f11 for both

Install High Sierra to check.

My Mac Pro is a 2010, so the two SMC versions are 1.39f11, yours should be 1.39f5 for both since it's a 2009.

You should check why BOOSTA is showing zero RPM too.[/QUOTE]

I've never used Mac Pro before。
what is boosta ?can you tell me? thanks。。。

BOOSTA is the fan installed into the heatsink of CPU A. Shouldn't be showing zero…

Every Mac Pro 4,1/5,1 heatsink has a fan in it. Install High Sierra and check the SMC version. I can't help you anymore than that.

PCI = PCIe fan
PS = Power Supply fan
EXHAUST = CPU cage exhaust fan
INTAKE = CPU cage intake fan
BOOSTA = CPU A heatsink fan

I'm sorry to bother you again, but today I bought another Mac Pro 2009, which I call B, and the one that had the problem the other day was called A. Mac Pro B has little sound. I changed B's CPU tray to A's motherboard, the sound is also very small, the fan is low speed,. Switch the CPU tray of A to Mac Pro B, the sound is still very large, the fan full speed. I've carefully checked that Mac Pro B has 2 SMC serial numbers, but Mac Pro A has only 1, and there is no CPU tray SMC serial number. is not the CPU tray of Mac Pro A is bad. But today I was told that my CPU tray was md560

Sound = fan high RPM noise?

If you take you CPU tray A to Mac Pro B, your Mac Pro B shows SMC version?

Thinks for the reply。

yes,sound large=fans are high RPM。sound small=fans are low RPM。

I take CPU tray AT to mac pro B, Mac Pro B have one SMC verizon. it is the system SMC verizon. The CPU SMC verizon is not displayed。

So you proved that the problem is the CPU tray. I saw similar problems with corroded trays.

thanks。。。
But this is problematic cpu tray have one fan problem, it have no other problems. How did you solve a similar situation that you saw? There is also a video card also has a random black screen phenomenon. After the black screen, the graphics fan speed is also much faster, you can hear the obvious sound。

Replacing the tray. You should inspect for oxidised components.

Thank you, can I scrub it with a high concentration of alcohol?
Just scrubbing with isopropanol don't work with heavily oxidised components, if you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner big enough, should work better.

hello,tsialxe

I cleaned the CPU tray with alcohol this evening, but the fan was still high speed. When I want to give up, the fan at low speed into the system after the boot, I detect the system has 2 SMC version number. But the screen was randomly black and I had to press the Power key to restart Mac Pro. 2 SMC version numbers no longer appear together, the fans are always in high speed mode。
