I have a 2010 Mac Pro (5,1) that I would like to sell and would appreciate opinions on how I would price it.

I have upgraded it to the following specs:

    Intel Xeon 6-core W3670 3.2 GHz processor
    (Consistent GB scores of 15,8xx)

    32 GB RAM
    480 GB Accelsior E2
OCZ Vertex 3 240GB (Accelsior Clone Backup)
    2x WD Black 2TB Drive (RAID 0)
    LG Blu-Ray RW Drive

    EVGA 680GTX Mac Edition

    Orico 4-port USB 3.0 PCI-E card

I'm looking to list it on eBay and/or a photography forum or two and maybe CL for $2,000. I'd like to know your opinions on whether that is a fair price and whether or not it will likely fetch that amount. Please ask questions if I may have left something out. Thanks in advance, and apologies if this is not allowed here.

    I just paid $900 for a 5,1 2.88Ghz Quad core, stock.
So add a couple hundred for the processors, $400 for RAM, $200 for the TB drives, $75 for the BluRay and you are at $1775.

I don't know the rest of the stuff off the top of my head, but I'd say $2K is maybe a little low. It should sell fairly well at that price though. If you are happy with that price you should make someone else happy too.

Hi Don Mega. I think you can price your machine higher at around $2500 since it's a beefed up model with upgrades. The video card, SSD and 480 GB Accelsior E2 are valued upgrades. You may need to indicate if the unit still comes with the original box as some buyers still want the box. Some would be concerned on how it will be shipped without the original box. Would help if you can provide nice photos, presentable clean machine for better chances of getting it sold. Good luck.

Did you do the processor upgrade yourself? cause I don't recall Apple selling a 3.2Ghz Hex core. I think it was a 3.33 Ghz model!

I would sell that around 2400-2500!

I do have the original box. I never throw my boxes out. I even have the plain brown outer box that it came in.

I did the upgrade myself following phillipma's thread here on MacRumors. It's been running that config for about two years. Thanks for the replies.

The top single core CPUs (W3680) available in both the 2010 and 2012 Mac Pros were indeed 3.33 GHz.

That 480 GB Accelsior E2 alone is worth $500.
