Hi Macrumors Community

I recently gotten a RX570 as a gift and was thinking to replaced the default HD5770 from my mac pro with it.
Installing the GPU was quite straight forward

So here is my current issue:
Black boot screen.
Lights on the GPU is running

This is my hardware configuration:
Mac OS 10.13.4
Mac Pro (Mid 2012)
Model Identifier: macpro 5,1
GPU: ASUS Sytrix RX570 4GB
Power cable: Dual mini 6pin to 8pin

I search online extensively but all seems to be solutions for rx580 and 480 and hacintosh solutions. High Sierra claims to be able to support rx570

So i am quite lost and was hopping for some assistance over here :)

Thanks is advance!

The black boot screen is a known issue. It's because even though OSX knows about the card, the boot loader that loads OSX doesn't. Everyone had hoped this recent (two weeks ago now?) firmware update would fix that, but it didn't.

On my 5,1, I just left the 5770 in and use it for booting. Both the 5770 and my RX560 are connected to different ports on the same monitor (5770 using HDMI, RX560 using display port). Once the system is up, I simply pull the 5770 HDMI cable.

Oh boy, I am currently going through the same issue.

Say, do you get a chime when you try to boot? Or is it no video no chime?

It does power on but no video no chime. I can tell that the system is some form of hibernation as the fan is not spinning even though it is on. Same scenario as with the HD5770 without logging in

Hmm.. interesting work around. But the only issue is, I need both the dual 6pin to be powering the RX570 XD, leaving no more power for the 5770

I have the MSI rx570 (this one: https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/Radeon-RX-570-GAMING-X-8G) and it's been working without issues since Mac OS 10.12.6. I'm currently on High Sierra 10.13.4. I don't have the boot screen but I have no other GPUs connected and the OS starts up just fine. Maybe this is an incompatibility with that specific ASUS GPU model that you have.

My config:
Mac Pro 12-core 3.46GHz (Mid 2012)
Model Identifier: macpro 5,1
Power cable: Single mini 6pin to 8pin
