HI all.
I downloaded what should be the correct version of AHT from Github.
Followed their instructions and put it on a USB.
So far so good.

AHT boots and starts but freezes during the Probe portion of the test.
The mouse freezes.Other people have had problems with an MS mouse.
Used an Apple mouse.

Any ideas? Github shows you a terminal command to return your Board ID.
to identify the correct AHT for your machine.

We just did this on my wife's MacBook . Worked fine.

Thanks.

Which Mac? Which AHT? Any 3rd party hardware (including RAM, HDD, everything)?

Without all this of info, and we can only believe that "should be the correct version of AHT". We can hardly give you any useful recommendation.

It's a MP4,1, a MP4,1>5,1 or a MP5,1?

MP4,1 with MP4,1 firmware needs 022-4149-A.
MP4,1 with MP5,1 firmware and real MP5,1 needs 022-4831-A.

You can't complete the AHT tests with a non-Apple GPU, even if you have an EFI flashed GPU the tests will fail without an OEM GPU.

5,1. Its in the title of my post.
Gethub lists 022-4831-A for MacPro5,1 Mac-F221BEC8.
I have no idea if the memory is original or the hard drives.
It is freezing in the PROBE portion of the test, not the actual hardware test.

Don't post serial numbers and UUID. It is for your own sake.

If you don't have Apple original video card AHT test may be funky.

if you had made a " signature " of your current Mac Pro in your Macrumors profile perhaps we could more easily offer assistance.

My SIGNATURE is at the bottom of this post.

It has the Radeon card listed in Everymac as OEM.

Sounds like you just buy the cMP, and have no idea if that’s the factory setting.

Anyway, AHT is vey very hardware specific. You should not run that with ANY 3rd party hardware installed.

It can be as simple as the HDD is not from Apple, and ATH cannot understand that temperature sensor’s output, then freeze during probe test.

Thanks,
Yes.
I had a feeling that the simple answer was the hardware had to be exactly the same.
Thank you

I remember AHT stopping on my 5,1 until I connected an original Apple USB mouse...
Hi and Thanks.
I found that online, someone had the same problem.
Tried that, no luck :)

@MikeDavies99 Are you having a problem with the Mac that you are trying to troubleshoot via AHT, or are you just trying to run a hardware test for informational reasons?

Did you ever find a solution for the AHT probe process freezing?
