MP 1,1-5,1 Mac Pro 5,1 Bluetooth Not Working After Upgrade

Hello,

Recently upgraded my Mac Pro. If you are interested in what all took place you can see my prior post.

As of now, I have done everything but OpenCore. The only thing not working as expected is Bluetooth. Running 10.14.6.

I used the following parts:
Mini-PCIe to BCM94360CD Adapter Version 3.0 (the version that has a two pin plug for USB power)
Apple BCM94360CD Card (AC Wi-Fi + BT 4.0)
4-Pin male to male plug (the same plug used in the Bluetooth power cable)
Male to Female U.Fl Extension Cable

I put the Apple Card in the adapter, attached the two stock antenna cables to the card, then connected the extension cable to the bluetooth antenna cable.

Next I removed the unnecessary 2 cables from the 4-pin cable, and spliced it to the power cable included with the adapter card. Taped over the connections. (Still need to remove the gold keys in the connectors)

Bluetooth does not work, did I hook this up wrong? (Wi-Fi works)

On the Mac Pro backplane Bluetooth USB connector, this is the pin-out of the JST male connector that you need to use is:

Pin 1 is D-
Pin 2 is D+
Pin 3 is NC (VCC)
Pin 4 is NC (GND)

NC = not connected

From your picture, I think that you did the inverse and probably burned the BT portion of your AirPort Extreme card.

So now I have switched the cables, no harm in trying before I buy a new card.

So I have 2 versions of macOS, 10.13.6 (SATA SSD in SATA Slot I) and 10.14.6 (NVMe via PCIe Adapter in PCIe Slot 2).

After switching the cables Bluetooth registers and works in 10.13.6 but doesn't appear in 10.14.6.

Any idea why this might be?

Try a 4-times continuously NVRAM reset, press the CMD-Option-P-R keys and only let go after the fifth chime.

Now check if BT controller is present with Mojave SystemInformation report.

MaxMan69 (and others) - Unfortunately, there is a maze of conflicting opinions about the backplane's header and the housing most suitable (the incorrect JST GH is most often named). And cables on the internet are often inadequately described, lacking in length and rainbow-colored. I wanted a BlueTooth data cable that would fit perfectly and look as perfect as possible.

After an absurd amount of research (which, in the end, involved obtaining and comparing the design drawings for several connectors), I was able to determine that the BlueTooth header on the backplanes of classic 4,1 and 5,1 Mac Pros is a Molex PicoBlade 4-circuit, 1.25mm pitch header. If you are upgrading to a BCM94360CD or similar WiFi/BT card on your cMP, a perfect cable (black wires, 12" long with the appropriate PicoBlade connector) can be obtained from Digi-Key (Part # WM15259-ND) for about $3.61 as of this writing. The Molex part number for this cable is: 0151340403

The two non-essential (V- and V+) wires can be removed and the remaining (data) wires soldered to the adapter, resulting in perfect functionality and an appearance that is as close to immaculate as it is possible to get. Below is a photo of the stock cable; I used black fingernail polish to (very carefully) paint the housing for that perfect appearance.

I am also having the same issue. Upgraded WiFi / Bluetooth card to version 4.2. WiFi works great, Bluetooth is a no go. The antennas are mounted in proper order.Wifi#2-j2, BT-j3,#2-j1, #3-j0. I have used 3 different bluetooth antennas, cleared / debugged, reset bluetooth. I tried the NVRAM reset as advised by tsialex but I only get 1 chime instead of the 5 chimes he describes. Mac Pro 5,1 early 2012, OS High Sierra ( updated before install ), Logitec MX Keys for Mac using usb. I have included some attached files. Thank you to tsialex for his past advise.

Several Microsoft and Logitech keyboards don't work for multiple/continuous NVRAM resets, do you have another KB to try?

Btw, did you dumped your BootROM and checked if you NVRAM is still healthy? The bluetoothActiveControllerInfo and bluetoothInternalControllerInfo NVRAM variables store all the BT configuration parameters and a NVRAM with failed garbage collection will affect your BT controller.

I have a BT cable coming off of my new Wifi/BT card that has all 4 wires. I would like to hook it into the original BT socket.
I believe the 4 wires are: VCC, Data-, Data+, & GND.
I need to know which pin to hook VCC to & which Pin to hook GND to.

Thank you for your reply! I'm trying to make sure I understand you 100%:

Should I leave the VCC & GND unconnected, even though my cable has all 4 wires?
Should I Just cut them off and use only the Data-/+ wires?
Or do I need to connect all 4?

Any idea why mine would have come with all 4 wires if only the 2 are needed when most other people's cards only came with 2 wires, to begin with?

That is a standard USB connector, but the internal connector on the cMP only uses 2 wires. Maybe you got an adaptor for PC?

I have tried to connect the wifi antennas in different positions, I also did 4-times continuously NVRAM reset but still not working. Attached below the wifi report system. Any idea to fix it?

The only time I have seen this behavior is in my MacPro3,1. I put an Apple wifi/bt card with an adapter to a regular PCIe slot and it said it was "not associated". I changed the adapter and moved the card to the mini-PCIe slot where everything worked. The system really wanted it in that slot.

That's weird, but in my case is connected in the mini-PCIe slot right? Airdrop is working fine but i'm not sure if is BT or WIFI.

Ok guys, now is working! What I did was:

1. Revert Root Patches in OpenCore
2. Reboot
3. Install Root Patch in OC
4. Reboot
5. Voilá

Wi-fi works perfectly but Bluetooth isn't , any idea?

Hi, I just upgraded my cMP 5,1 wifi/BT to the BCM94360CD combo card. I've been able to get both BT and Wifi working on OS Monterey, but Bluetooth shows as unavailable on my Mojave drive. I've tried 4X pram/nvram reset, SMC reset, deleting plist, but no sucess for Mojave. I also clean installed Mojave but BT didnt even show at all. I plugged a BT dongle and BT did show up in that instance, but I'd rather use what i installed. Can anyone help please. Attached reference pics of the mojave situation vs Monterey (via martin lo oc 0.8.8) Thank you
