Hi I currently have a Mac Edition of EVGA GTX680. The card is phenomenal. I never had any issues physically so far, and the card is still going very strong with both games and Microsoft Office use.

I am trying to upgrade my card to GTX970 and I have a few questions. I don't care about the boot screen because I already have GTX680.

1) Would 970 be much stronger than 680 in terms of performance? Since 680 was still in the 80 family, but GTX980 seemed still expensive so I was wondering. Or would 1060 fit with 2 6-pins and even better than 970?

2) I prefer EVGA model because I have good experience with this brand. Would you recommend me which GTX970 I should go for? (If not EVGA, what else is recommended?) - This has to be both energy efficient as well as be connected with 2 6-pins like my GTX680.

Thanks.

I think you should wait a month or two and wait to macOS sierra is out. The RX 480 is keeping up to the GTX 1070 in compute at half the cost... If CUDA is a necessary to your workflow then the 970 is a good card and evga is also my preferred brand...

Check out our channel we just done a quick look at the 680 compared to the RX 480 drivers are not fully available yet...

But when I look at below link, Radeon is way lower in terms of score. Of course it's not an absolute statement but I actually game a lot so I would need Nvidia graphic card (for Nvidia Shield streaming and etc.) Thanks for your video though.

I doubt if you can feel any difference in MS Office.

But for gaming (assume in Windows), sure the 970 is stronger.

However, you should study about the web driver installation before upgrade. The 680 is a painless card, 970 is not.
