Mac Pro Case: 3,1 & 1,1. Are they interchangeable?

Hello,

I currently have a Mac Pro 3,1. The case is heavily damaged. I plan on migrating to a new case.

I found a local ad for a Mac Pro case 1,1.

They are both model A1186 to my knowledge.

Does anyone have any knowledge here? To my understanding starting with the 4,1 was the redesign of the CPU trey/memory.

If anyone can confirm this for me, it would be appreciated!!

Unfortunately not.

They changed the port moldings at the front, they changed the memory cages, and I feel like there were a few other subtle changes.
