Hi, I've been considering buying my first mac. With the release of the new mac pro I'm pretty much set to make my purchase but I am unsure about one thing. Im a Gamer and I intend to get the Nvidia 8800 GT for using in boot camp.

The problem is I use 3 screens and you can only configure the new mac pro with one of these cards. Would I be able to Use the upgraid kit they recently made avalible to add a second one of these cards for more than 2 screen support? Would I have to go with the more pricey 8800 for 3 screens or could i simply use the 8800 as a primary card for gaming and use the cheaper radeon 2600 for extra screen space?

I'm a little confused...do you plan to just use 1 screen when you game in Windows...meaning the 3 screens would only be used in OS X? If this is the case, you can have a 8800 and one of the other cards, and run 4 screens if you wanted in OS X.

I have a Mac Pro with an ATI x1900xt and an Nvidia 7300GT. Mac OS X supports up to 4 displays with this configuration. In Bootcamp, using Win XP, only the 2 displays connected to the ATI work. This is likely due to having both ATI & Nvidia cards in the same machine.

So, you will be able to use at least 2 displays in Bootcamp. If you want to use more than 2 displays, I suggest you stick to the Nvidia family, either another 8800 (if compatible) or an Nvidia 7300GT.
