Was wondering how much Apple costs to do a case swap for a smashed up Mac Pro Mid 2012. It's a bit of a drive for me to take it down there so I was wondering if anyone had experience with pricing on getting this done.

For AASP's the part cost is $359. Apple Store part cost is probably about the same, then whatever they charge for labor. Unless the damage is causing that much of an issue it's just not worth it. It may be cheaper to find a another 5,1 base model and just swap over your CPU board and other parts.. if you look hard enough. It's not that hard of a job to replace the enclosure but it's not easy for a novice.

The "Free Shipping" on these items is excellent, but you need to have the patience/time to make the swap . . .

. . . I have no idea what an AAPL Store will charge for the case/swap, but you can certainly/successfully DIY ;)

Service Manual available online, purchase from eBay, or Direct....

Considering that the system will shortly be on Apple's vintage/obsolete list - why spend any money to repair cosmetic damage to the case?

It's a tool, not a work of art.

I've sent the few G5 and PowerMacs that we bought to eWaste - where they belong.

ebay has cheaper cases, but you may need to be patient and to do the swap with order, you may find swap video on youtube maybe, but ma advice and experience just pay attention to things follow:
1, you will need to pull out cpu tray first, just pay attention to the cable back of cpu tray container, i mean the cables connected to the case which contains the cpu tray, once you draw out the cpu tray, you can see them on the logicboard, disconnect them before you pull out the cpu tray container, and you need to pay attention to bluetooth cable too witch is under the container
2, your logicboard power cable connector is under dvdrom, you will need to take the dvd rom out of there, and also the backplate, so you can disconnected the power cable before take the logicboard screws
3, when you put the new logicboard cable back, you will need to go the left said first, so you will keep the power cable and sata cable above the logicboard, and go down to power supply connecter, and go right side to the video panel connector, pay attention to 3 wifi cables on your left bottom, pull them carefully above before screw back logicboard
4, when you put back the logicboard, and put back on the screws, pay attention dont forget leave the six cpu tray container case screws, they are the same from logicboard ones, so you won't re-screw them after you realised that you melanged them
