Hi, I am looking into purchasing a mac pro to use for creating advertisements in fcp and PS and was wondering if this would be a good deal for 1000, or should I look into getting an intel based mac pro? any help would be greatly appreciated.

3 1/2 year old Apple Power Mac G5.

In front of my MacBook Pro
It wouldn't be bad, but I'd say you should just go for the new Mac Pro. You'll get a lot more use out of it that an already aging computer. You'd be fine with the lowest you can buy, but more power isn't needed for PS and what you'd be doing in FCP I don't think would benefit greatly by 8 cores. Nowadays, the G5 won't be what you can stick with for a few years to come.
