Hey Gang -

I had read the great detailed in 2006 about using different video cards in your Mac Pro.

Here is the $Million$ question???

Can you buy another faster PC-express video card and drop it into another slot as long as you leave the stock video card in. My Dell 19" has 2 monitor inputs and could have 1 cord going from each video card - depending if I want to play games on Boot Camp or just boot up in OS X??? Any answers??????

it'll probably work in bootcamp but unless it's a 7300GT, X1900XT, or 4500, it wont work in OSX

Hey Slughead - Thanx for the quick response - but I don't quite understand....Boot camp will see it but the Mac OSX won't?

Unless you flash one of the above video cards to be identical to the Apple versions they'll only work in Windows.

So....

Boot Camp will work - but Mac OS X would never boot - unless you disconnected the "PC Video" Card every time you wanted to go in to OSX....even though the original Mac Video card is left installed???

Does that mean

I could buy any smokin PC Card and it would work in the Windows World.....but Mac will be dead until I disconnect that PC Card...

Hmmm.... instead of holding shift key - have to open the box....

Opps - yea...Thanks

Thanks much - Wonder if there will be a new video card option when the Mac Pro refreshes in a month or too..

There's no guarantee Apple will refresh it in a month either. With the way they've been treating the Mac Pro, I highly doubt it.

So it's got a new RAID card - big deal. I'm sure some people will consider that an update.🙄🙄

Get your S__t together Apple.😡
