What grade are you in? If college is in the plans in the next year or so, I would seriously consider a laptop over a desktop.
I am in grade 10 so its another 3 years until university. And my HS does not like people bringing laptops in they think your trying to hack there wireless network. Yeah I think the mac pro is what I want. I will also pick up a 19" to start things off Then I can upgrade later if I think I need it...and once I get the money.:)

EDIT: the ACD is pretty but to expensive too.......

This is a common suggestion. Portability + College = Awesome!

This however is not true in most cases. I know tons of people in college who have a laptop and it just sits on their desk. They dont take it anywhere. Whats the point? Why not get a Mac Pro and have a powerful machine at home.

My solution was to get a Mac Pro and a cheap 12" PB for a double whammy. I dont do Photoshop or FCP in a coffee shop. I type documents browse the net.

I think suggesting laptops for college is way overrated, and the suggestion usually comes from those who personally find it nice.

Wow, I only dreamt about having that great of a computer when I was in high school. If you do have the money to spend, get the mac pro and ugrade the graphics card/processor/etc in the future if you'd like. I'm sure when it's time to go to college you'll end up buying a high end laptop too though since you can buy a mac pro now! I'm envious.

I use my MacBook Pro at college and love being able to use it there (take notes, surf the web, check e-mail, etc...). Of course, I am also a commuter, so I don't have a computer on campus that is solely mine besides my laptop. :)
