How viable is it to use the Mac Pro as a full-time Windows machine right now?

As viable as a small raddish in a salad. It will work grand if you want it to, but if you dont like raddishes, forget it :D

"right now" it is not very viable. SATA performance is way below par.

I took my Mac Pro back because it will not run PS any better than much older machines for now. But for those who want to keep them, has anybody tried the Intel SATA drivers here:

I was also having the slow SATA problem on mine with Boot Camp and never got around to trying these drivers.

Your link doesn't work, but most likely we have tried the drivers.

Did you get hit with a restocking fee?

Windows works fine on a Mac Pro

I have heard a few people complaining about SATA drivers, no doubt it is true, but I know several people, including myself, who use boot camp and windows XP pro for games, ms office, and other programs, real life use, and it works fine. I wouldnt know it had a slow hard drive if I didnt read it here.
